Topping-Out Ceremony Held for the New Rental Apartment Building in Smiltene 02.04.2026

On 20 March 2026, a topping-out ceremony was held for the new rental apartment building at 3 Pļavas Street in Smiltene, marking a significant construction milestone – the completion of the building’s highest structural point. The project comprises a four-storey, nearly zero-energy apartment building with 30 rental apartments.

In keeping with construction traditions, a topping-out wreath was placed on the roof of the building, symbolising the strength of the structure and the successful progress of the construction works. The ceremony represents not only the successful completion of the first major stage of construction but also the dedication and teamwork of everyone involved in the project.

The client, SIA “Smiltenes NKUP”, proudly expresses its appreciation to the general contractor, SIA “MONUM”, for the successful cooperation, as well as to the entire construction team for their professionalism and perseverance. Despite changing weather conditions, the project has continued to progress according to schedule, ensuring that construction milestones are achieved as planned.

Construction of the rental apartment building commenced at the end of September 2025, while a time capsule was ceremonially embedded in the building’s foundation on 16 January 2026. The construction process took place under challenging weather conditions, with prolonged periods of freezing temperatures during the winter affecting the organisation of the works. Nevertheless, construction activities were promptly adapted to ensure that the project remained on schedule.

Construction is scheduled for completion in August 2026.
