A time capsule with a message for the next generations will be laid into the foundations of the perspective Sigulda sports complex 13.10.2015

On Thursday, October 15th, a time capsule with a message for the next generations will be built into the foundations of the perspective Sigulda sports complex. The event will be attended by the owners of the building  – representatives of Sigulda Region Council, representatives of the designer and contractor partnership ’S.J.U.C.’ –  ’MONUM’ Ltd., as well as the bobsleigh legend, the bronze medallist of the 1984 Olympic Games Zintis Ekmanis.

There will be a gym and a pool with a recreational area on the first floor of the sports complex, while the second floor of the building will accommodate a track and field athletics section and fitness area. A closed passage will connect the building with the adjacent Sigulda City High School, while a functional connection will ensure convenient access to the track and field athletics arena. It will function as a training base for both local residents of Sigulda, the current Latvian Olympians, and the future generation of professional athletes – students of the sports class of Sigulda City High School. “With the construction of the new sports complex, we will improve the training conditions for the current and future professional athletes and provide opportunities for quality leisure to the residents of our region,” as Chairman of the Sigulda Regional Council Uģis Mitrevics asserted today to  the Latvia’s leading business newspaper “Dienas Bizness” .
