Rental houses in Valmiera among Latvia’s most valuable buildings 04.09.2020

On 2 September, during the award ceremony of the contest Sustainability in Architecture, Construction and Design 2020, the Rental Houses in Valmiera built by MONUM were awarded the 3rd prize.

The Rental Houses in Valmiera are a unique project: they are the first rental houses in Latvia commissioned by the local government, which solve the housing stock shortage problem in the city.

The added value of the Rental Houses includes functional and accessible apartments for young families and professionals, as well as a landscaped environment in an area that has not been used before.

The Rental Houses in Valmiera are low-consumption buildings with a high level of energy efficiency, and the solutions used for their insulation will lead to significant resource savings in the long term.

The project was put into operation in the summer of 2018. Its owner is Valmieras Namsaimnieks SIA, and it total cost is 7,983,580 euro.

The aim of the contest Sustainability in Architecture, Construction and Design is to promote projects and ideas whose initial value does not decrease in the long run.
