On June 1, 2023, the new Alūksne sports and education center was festive opened in Alūksne.

During the implementation of the project, a modern, spacious and comfortable building and the necessary infrastructure for its functioning were built, the old sports hangar was demolished, a parking lot was created instead, and the adjacent section of Darba Street was rebuilt.

The owners of the building are the Alūksne Sports School, which has been actively using the new sports infrastructure since the beginning of March. This building is a significant benefit, first of all, for ensuring the learning process, but at the same time also for the activities of residents and sports associations and the organization of various sports competitions.

The multifunctional sports hall has a field for basketball, volleyball, floorball and indoor football, the athletics hall has running tracks, sprint, long jump, high jump and shot put sectors, there is a separate hall for young judo wrestlers, as well as gym and gymnastics halls.

A new sports center has been one of the main priorities in the development plans of the municipality. This is the largest financial project of the municipality, which it started implementing in 2018. The time of the project’s implementation coincided with the consequences of the pandemic and the global geopolitical crisis, which had a significant impact on the construction of the sports center, but the result has been achieved to our credit.
