On 20 March 2026, a topping-out ceremony was held in Smiltene at Pļavas iela 3 for a new rental apartment building, marking a significant construction milestone — the completion of the building’s highest structural point. The project involves the development of a nearly zero-energy four-storey residential building comprising 30 apartments.

In line with tradition, a wreath was placed on the roof structure, symbolically representing the strength of the building and the progress of construction works. This milestone reflects both the completion of the initial construction phase and the strong collaboration of the project team.

The client, SIA “Smiltenes NKUP”, expresses its appreciation to the general contractor, SIA “MONUM”, for the successful cooperation, as well as to the entire construction team for their high level of professionalism and perseverance. Despite challenging and changing weather conditions, the project has been progressing in accordance with the planned schedule.

Construction of the rental building commenced at the end of September 2025, while a time capsule was embedded in the building’s foundations on 16 January 2026. The construction process took place under demanding weather conditions, with significant frost during the winter period affecting work organisation. Nevertheless, the construction works were promptly adapted to ensure delivery in line with the planned timeline.

The completion of construction is scheduled for August 2026.
