Work on the reconstruction of the Latvian-Russian border crossing point Terehova continues 21.02.2020
In the spring of 2019, MONUM started work on the Latvian-Russian border crossing point Terehova, which is the busiest in the country. Major reconstruction and modernisation work is now underway as part of the project.
Andris Vējiņš, Project Manager at MONUM, outlines the most substantial works at the project: “We have delivered the wastewater treatment facility to the State Environmental Service and are in the process of constructing the in-depth control building. We are planning to resume road pavement construction already in March. We expect the weather conditions to be favourable for this work. In parallel, work is underway to build a server room that will house the equipment and technology which will provide the IT infrastructure for the border control point”.
The resulting reconstruction will not only improve the visual image of the structure and the environment, but also modernise the information flow due to the installation of duplicate traffic signs at the entry to the border crossing point and at the inspection pavilions. The institutions involved will be able to carry out the necessary document checks faster and more efficiently thanks to modern technology solutions.
The project provides for improving the surrounding infrastructure and building an area of over 12 hectares. The works are planned to be completed already this autumn. The contracting authority of the project is Valsts nekustamie īpašumi VAS (State Real Estate SJSC), and its total cost is more than 6 million euro.
