Work is underway on design of the Pāternieki Border Crossing Point 21.02.2020

At the end of 2019, MONUM, as the leading partner of the General Partnership MMG, signed a contract on the development of a construction design, design supervision and construction work at the Pāternieki Border Crossing Point, Piedruja Parish, Krāslava Municipality. Active design work is currently underway, and construction work is planned to start already this spring.

“Pāternieki is a significant and busy border crossing point between Latvia and Belarus, which was built 20 years ago. Over this period, the surrounding infrastructure has become obsolete and the condition of the buildings has deteriorated. To make the border crossing not only more modern, but also more efficient and convenient, we will rebuild the existing control pavilions and construct new ones. We will also rebuild the canopies. In its turn, the visual image of the border control point will acquire the colours of the Latvian flag. The result of the project will benefit both visitors and the customs staff,” Andris Vējiņš, Project Manager at MONUM points out.

The project will also involve the construction of a two-storey bus passenger control terminal, additional lanes and pedestrian paths, replacement of 15,000 square metre road surface as well as improvement and modernisation of the working environment of the control services.

The contracting authority of the project Valsts nekustamie īpašumi VAS (State Real Estate SJSC), and its total cost is more than three million euro, including VAT. The project is planned to be completed by the end of 2020.
