MONUM starts preparatory work at the site of the Pāternieki Border Crossing Point 20.05.2020

Next week, we are starting work at the Pāternieki Border Crossing Point, Piedruja Parish, Krāslava Municipality. The project will involve large-scale reconstruction and modernisation of the Latvian-Belarusian border crossing point.

“In order to make border crossing more modern, efficient and convenient, we will rebuild the existing control pavilions and build new ones. As the bus flow between Latvia and Belarus is increasing every year, a valuable benefit resulting from the project will be the construction of a new bus passenger control terminal. The new terminal will significantly improve and streamline the flow of bus passengers,” Andris Vējiņš, Project Manager at MONUM, emphasises the benefits of the project.

The project will also involve the reconstruction of canopies, construction of additional lanes and pedestrian paths, replacement of 15,000 square metre road surface as well as improvement and modernisation of the working environment of the control services. In its turn, the general visual image of the border control point will acquire the colours of the Latvian flag.

The contracting authority of the project is Valsts nekustamie īpašumi VAS (State Real Estate SJSC), and its total cost is more than 3 million euro, including VAT. The project is planned to be completed at the end of 2020.
