Latvian BMX elite riders supported by MONUM reach high achievements in European Championship BMX Racing 13.07.2015
On 11 – 12 June the European Championship in BMX Racing, which is one of the season’s most important BMX competitions took place in Erp, the Netherlands. Latvia was represented by 71 athletes, including 15 Latvian national team athletes supported by ‘MONUM’. The competition brought 3 medals and 7 finalists!
On Saturday, July 11, competition for children, juniors up to 14 years and cruiser classes took place. 42 Latvian riders took part and won three awards. A high level of success reached Latvian youth elite rider Edvards Glazers. In his B14 group he won the gold medal. Nine years young girls showed good results – Paula Kibare won the 1st place and Paula Zavinska won the 6th place. Among 11-year-young girls (G11) the 6th best was Liva Lizete Glazere. Also the performance of B8 group was excellent. Both Emils Allers and Markus Ozolins were able to reach the finals. E.Allers became the 6th best in Europe this year, while Ozolins took the 8th place.
On Sunday, July 12, the track of Erp hosted the most expeditious European BMX riders – the elite, junior, senior and youth amateur group competed for the Champion title. In prestigious men’s elite group the only Latvian representative Maris Strombergs reached great finals and won fourth place. The European champion in G16 girls group became Vineta Petersone but Mikus Strazdins received bronze medal.
