Work on construction of the boiler house in Valmiera has started 05.08.2019

In July 2019, major work was completed on the design of the wood chip boiler house, which will be located at 1 Dakstiņu Street, Valmiera and will supply heat to the residents of the right bank of the Gauja River. The piles have been built and now we have begun work on constructing the foundation of the boiler house. In parallel, the man-made soil replacement work under the area surface is carried out.

“We have fulfilled the building conditions and received the permit from the Valmiera City Construction Board to commence construction work. This is the time when we start the most important work – constructing the foundation of the building. At the moment, work is proceeding according to the plan, and we are moving forward at a rapid pace to make the powerful boiler house accessible to the residents of the right bank of the Gauja River already next spring,” Kaspars Brencis, Construction Project Manager at MONUM points out.

The new boiler house is being built according to modern requirements as an environmentally friendly heat supply system. It will not only ensure efficient and affordable heat supply to the residents of Valmiera, but also will cause minimal environmental impact.

The project provides for the installation of a wood chip biomass boiler with a thermal capacity of 9 MW and a flue gas condensing economiser with a thermal capacity of 1.5 MW. Total project cost: EUR 4 990 396.75 + VAT.
