Topping out ceremony for the new building of Ogre State Gymnasium 04.05.2022
On May 4, a topping out ceremony took place in the new building of Ogre State Gymnasium on Gunāra Astras Street, which was attended by representatives of municipalities, a construction contractor, a construction supervisor, designers, as well as ninth-graders with families who have already applied for school.
Egils Helmanis, Chairman of the Ogre Municipal Council, addressed the significant event and acknowledged that it is a real pleasure for him to take part in the new school building topping out ceremony, that the municipality has been able to find a new, most modern school in the Baltics, where students will be able to study, play sports in a modern environment and continue their studies at any other university in the world after graduation. “In this turbulent time of war in Ukraine, and this is our war, we are building a new future, building a school for future generations. That is our goal – to build a modern school and create time-appropriate content, ”said E. Helmanis. The chairman thanked everyone involved in the construction of the school and wished it success.
Jānis Sproģis, a member of the board of “MONUM”, remembered the moment when a capsule was buried on the construction site last summer and the uplifting mood that the company has been given the opportunity to implement such an ambitious project. J.Sproģis admitted that the project is full of challenges, because during the year events in the world have significantly affected the field of construction, however, so far everything has been accomplished according to the planned schedule, and thanked the municipality, designers, his team for their work.
