Reconstructed Bauska boiler house solemnly opened 13.06.2016

On 10 June, at a solemn event, the reconstructed boiler house of SIA Bauskas Siltums was oficially opened. The total capacity of the reconstructed boiler house will amount to 21 megawatts, and heating will be produced also by using the local renewable resource – wood chips.

During the opening the ribbon was cut by Raitis Abelnieks (Raitis Ābelnieks), Chairman of Bauska region council, Janis Kalinka (Jānis Kalinka), executive director of the regional government, Ilmars Rusis (Ilmārs Rūsis), Member of the Board at SIA Bauskas Siltums, Agris Sipkovs (Agris Šipkovs), representative of SIA Filter and Dmitrijs Jansons, project manager at ’MONUM’. The event attracted around 40 guests. All of them took part in a tour of the boiler house. Moreover, the audience was entertained by the local folk group Drengeri (Dreņģeri).

’MONUM’ performed the design and construction works of the boiler house reconstruction amounting to EUR 2.6 million excluding VAT. A new wood chip boiler produced by the Austrian manufacturer Kohlbach was installed, as well as a wood chip reception pit was constructed with a state-of-the-art sliding floor. The major part of reconstruction works, for example, dismantling of the reinforced concrete panel roof to install the new boiler unit, were carried out during the winter – the heating period, without interrupting the operation of the boiler house. The schedule of the project implementation was intense – design and construction works of the boiler house were finished in only 5 months. The boiler house was commissioned this March.
