Reconstruction work is continuing at Sigulda District Culture Centre 02.02.2018
Continuing the reconstruction of Sigulda District Culture Centre, heating was switched on and indoor work began in December. Construction of the technology for the Large Hall stage has begun, and painting work is being carried out in part of the premises. Parallel to this, power and low voltage cables are being installed. Reconstruction of the façade has been completed, which has acquired a new form – a visual solution depicting the sandstone outcrop next to Velna ala (Devil’s Cave).
The building that is home to the Culture Centre was built in 1962 and no significant renovation work had been carried out since then. Major reconstruction began at the end of 2016, as a result of which, the Culture Centre will be upgraded through the addition of three new rehearsal halls for the needs of orchestras, choirs and dancers, an expanded stage, as well as additional seats for viewers and new warehouse premises. In addition, territorial landscaping will be carried out and new paths and squares will be built.
Part of the Culture Centre’s reconstruction costs amounting to EUR 1,921,171.03 will be covered through the implementation of the project, “Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions in the Sigulda District Culture Centre Building”, which was awarded funding in the emission quota auction instrument project competition, “Reduction of Greenhouse Gas Emissions – Low Energy Consumption Buildings”. The remaining budget will be financed by Sigulda District Council, thanks to a loan from the State Treasury. In total, Sigulda District Culture Centre’s reconstruction expenditures amount to almost EUR 8 million.
The refurbished Sigulda District Culture Centre will open its doors this year.
