“Architecture. Engineering. Form and Texture.” Exhibition Launched 14.01.2026
On 10 December 2025, the exhibition “Architecture. Engineering. Form and Texture.”, organised by Gunita Jansone and Agrita Lūse, representatives of the Building Design and Construction Council association, was opened at Āgenskalns Market. On 13 January 2026, a large-format version of the travelling photo exhibition was unveiled near the Origo Shopping Centre.
The exhibition features architectural projects and structures that have received awards in the Latvian Construction Annual Award competition, the Baltic-level competition Sustainability in Architecture, Construction and Design, and projects developed with the participation of engineers honoured in the Latvian Construction Engineer of the Year competition. Marking its tenth anniversary, the exhibition plays an important role in public education as well as in fostering a sense of national pride.
Through the lenses of photographers, the best perspectives have been captured and enduring values have been immortalised—values that form the foundation of culture (through the modernisation of theatres), mobility (via the construction of roads and bridges), and the quality of living and natural environments (with the development of new residential districts, office buildings, clinics, public outdoor spaces, and kindergartens). The exhibition also highlights how wood has become a full-fledged competitor to other construction materials, as it is natural, provides structural durability, and is exceptionally pleasing both to the touch and to the eye.
