A time capsule has been laid in the foundation of the boiler house in Valmiera 10.09.2019

On 10 September, a time capsule with a message was laid in the construction site where the Valmiera boiler house is being built. The new wood chip biomass boiler house will be located at 1 Dakstiņu Street and will supply heat to the residents of the right bank of the Gauja River.

“This is an ambitious project, and we are pleased that everything is proceeding according to the plan. In September, we are going to finish the concreting work. A combustion chamber and an electrostatic precipitator manufactured specifically for this project in Austria have already been delivered to the site. We will start assembling these devices soon,” says Kaspars Brencis, Construction Project Manager at MONUM.

The new boiler house is being built according to modern requirements as an environmentally friendly heat supply system. It will not only ensure efficient and affordable heat supply to the residents of Valmiera, but also will cause minimal environmental impact.

The project provides for the installation of a wood chip biomass boiler with a thermal capacity of 9 MW and a flue gas condensing economiser with a thermal capacity of 1.5 MW. The project is due for completion already in the spring of 2020.
