At a formal ceremony held on Friday, 16 December, a symbolic capsule was laid down in the foundation of the Limbaži and Salacgrīva District Sports School’s swimming pool.

Inserted into the capsule was a message for future generations, the latest edition of Limbaži District Council’s newsletter, Limbažu Novada Ziņas (Limbaži District News), and a symbolic silver trowel designed by silversmith Oļegs Auzers.

According to PS “MONUM & LitCon” Board Member Modris Ozoliņš, “No construction project is without its complications, both in terms of architecture and construction. I sincerely hope that the building will be delivered on time so that the town’s residents and visitors to the district can have fun there soon.”

On 12 September 2016, Limbaži District Council signed a contract with PS “MONUM & LitCon” regarding the construction of the Limbaži and Salacgrīva District Sports School’s swimming pool. The swimming pool will provide the opportunity for pupils of teaching institutions in the District of Limbaži to take swimming lessons, encourage residents to take up an active and healthy lifestyle, and provide training facilities for the district’s athletes.

The newly-built swimming pool building will contain two pools: a large pool measuring 25 x 11 metres and a kids’ pool spanning 10 x 5 metres, as well as an aerobics hall, gym, bathhouse and sauna. The territory adjoining the swimming pool will also be landscaped with the addition of a lawn, pedestrian footpaths, benches and a car park.

The construction project for the swimming pool was developed by SIA “MARK”, while the construction work is being supervised by SIA “Firma L4”.

Construction of the swimming pool is due to be completed in the autumn of 2017.
