Iecavas art and music school celebrates lifting of the final roof rafter on place 26.06.2015
On June 19, 2015, the reconstruction of Iecavas art and music school reached a new development stage – the final rafter of the building structure was lifted into place and topped with a traditional wreath made of evergreens, flowers and ribbons. The ridgepole ceremony was attended by both Iecavas county council representatives and builders. In opening speech Iecavas County Council Vice Ms. Agra Zake gave words of gratitude to ’MONUM’ for the well done job and wished a successful final phase of the renovation: “The biggest part of the project is completed now. We are very pleased that we can be here today, thank you for your excellent work!”
After the festivities ’MONUM’ will continue insulation works of the new building; in some parts of the building showcases and facade plastering will be installed. In close future the building we will glazed. In parallel with the construction of the new building the second round of reconstruction – renovation of the old building, has started. The first job was removing the old and applying the new plastering. In order to preserve the authenticity of the building, some parts of the building will be restored and saved, for example, small boxes that used to have remained near the recently closed entrance to the grocery store. Moreover, the spiral staircases located in the building will not be demolished. It is intended to restore some of the walls to their original appearance.
