With the participation of Latvia’s Olympians, the Sigulda Sports Centre has been officially opened 08.05.2017
On 4 May, on a day of celebration for the country as the whole, the Sigulda Sports Centre was formally opened – most important building to have been built in Sigulda during the past 30 years and one of the most notable new buildings to have been built in the whole of Latvia last year!
The Sigulda Sports Centre offers visitors the use of a 25 metre long swimming pool with four lanes, as well as a special children’s swimming training pool with a depth of 80 centimetres. Nearby is a water attraction and leisure zone, containing a water attraction pool for kids, 40 metre long water slides, several saunas, hydro massage showers, hydro massage and cold water pools. The Sigulda Sports Centre also has a modern gym, fitness exercise room, an athletics sector with a 100 metre long running track and a multifunctional sports hall.
We’re proud of our accomplishment, and very much hope that many future Olympians from this country will be celebrated at this sports complex! A special alley of Sigulda Olympians was formed at this event by erstwhile Olympic medal winners Martins Dukurs, Andris and Juris Šics, as well as Jānis Strenga, who planted trees in honour of every medal won by Latvia and Sigulda.
