Gaujas Street in Ādaži has become a pedestrian- and cyclist-friendly street 16.08.2017

It is estimated that Gaujas Street, which was built almost 40 ago in Adaži, is used by about 10,000 cars a day. Now, after its reconstruction, it has become a street friendly to both pedestrians and cyclists alike. This reconstruction project worth about EUR 3 million has been adopted from the Netherlands and is considered to be a pilot project in Latvia. Overall, the reconstruction of Gaujas Street in Ādaži is unique, because of various technical-engineering solutions and materials used in it.

The new form of the central street has also been favourably received by the city’s residents, who stress that after its reconstruction Gaujas Street has become much more vibrant and is now used much more often by families with children, as well as cyclists. More details are available in Latvian Television’s report.
