On 6 September 2018, a special opening ceremony was held for the opening of multi-apartment rental houses at 1 Mālu Street and 8 Ķieģeļu Street in Valmiera. MONUM carried out the construction design, construction work and design supervision of the project.

The multi-apartment rental houses offer 150 modern one-room, two-room and three-room flats distributed in two buildings. The landscaped surrounding area has a wide range of amenities for the convenience of the residents: parking lots and bicycle racks, a spacious recreation area, a children’s playground and underground waste container storage.

“This is an unique project, which points not only to the development of the housing stock in Valmiera, but also to the city’s overall growth. We are pleased that Valmiera can boast of modern rental houses which have provided living space not only for people of Valmiera, but also are a reason for residents of other cities to consider choosing Valmiera as their place of residence,” says Māris Ozoliņš, Chairman of the Board at MONUM.

During the opening event, officials had a discussion about the development of housing stock and housing policy in Latvia, and Yard Celebrations of the residents of the new houses took place. The event was attended by Arvils Ašeradens, Minister for Economics, Jānis Baiks, Chairman of Valmiera City Council, Valdis Jēgers, Chairman of the Board at Valmieras Namsaimnieks SIA (the project owner), as well as representatives of the Ministry of Environmental Protection and Regional Development and the Ministry of Economics, Māris Ozoliņš and Gatis Logins representing the Board of MONUM and representatives of the Latvian Association of Local Governments, the Latvian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, SEB banka AS and Latio SIA.

In honour of the celebratory event, special plates with the inscription Valmiera Rental House 2018 were attached to both rental houses in cooperation with Valmiera City Council and Valmieras Namsaimnieks SIA, the project owner.
