Building of the Year 2018: Sigulda Culture Centre, Rental Houses in Valmiera, Limbaži Swimming Pool and Rēzekne Industrial Complex 05.12.2018
Dienas Bizness has summarised information on the buildings of 2018 in Latvia. We are proud that projects built by MONUM, such as the Sigulda Devon Culture Centre, the Rental Houses in Valmiera, the Limbaži Swimming Pool and the Rēzekne Industrial Complex, rank among the most ambitious developments.
The highest-value project – the Sigulda Devon Culture Centre – has been completed in Sigulda. Its façade panel print features photographs of the Devonian sandstone outcrops from the Velnala cliffs in Sigulda, Dienas Bizness writes.
As a result of the reconstruction implemented by MONUM, the Sigulda Culture Centre has not only undergone significant repairs for the first time since its construction in 1962, but also acquired new rooms and technical capabilities: three rehearsal rooms for the orchestra, the choir and dancers, an extended stage with a rear stage, as well as additional spectator seats. After the major redevelopment, the Sigulda Devon Culture Centre has become a low-energy building that will allow for saving resources in the long run. The total cost of the project is more than 8 million euro.
The country’s first Multi-Apartment Rental Houses in Valmiera with 150 flats were commissioned at the beginning of the summer, thus taking a small but significant step towards solving the housing stock shortage problem.
The rental houses in Valmiera offer 150 modern one-room, two-room and three-room flats distributed in two buildings. The landscaped surrounding area has a wide range of amenities for the convenience of the residents: parking lots and bicycle racks, a spacious recreation area, a children’s playground and underground waste container storage. The total cost of the project is over 6 million euro.
The construction of the Industrial Complex in Rēzekne is the largest project commissioned in the city this year and one of the biggest across Latgale region, Dienas Bizness points out.
The project has resulted in the construction of a new building consisting of a modern industrial complex, an industrial building, an administrative building and technical premises. To make the building easy to reach, an access road with the necessary public infrastructure – a parking lot for passenger cars and trucks – has been built. The total area of the complex is more than 7,000 square meters and the cost is more than 4 million euro.
The swimming pool built by MONUM in Limbaži with a total area of 3,000 square metres was opened in September. The cost of the project is over 3 million euro.
There are two pools in the swimming pool building: a large pool measuring 25×11 m and a children’s pool measuring 10×5 m, as well as a steam bath, a sauna and a fitness hall with a gym and an aerobics room.
