At the beginning of April, MONUM received a building permit for the construction of the Alūksne Education and Sports Centre at 17a Jāņkalna Street. The visual appearance of the building is known, and the minimum composition of the building design has been approved.

There will be two judo halls, an aerobics room and a gym in the building. The project also provides for setting up designated areas for various athletic disciplines, such as the long jump, the high jump and the discus throw, as well as a 100-metre running track. The sports centre will accommodate several basketball courts, as well as floorball and volleyball courts.

This is the most ambitious project in recent years in North Vidzeme with a total area of over 4,000 sq m. “Everything for diverse sporting activities will be available in the centre. Alūksne will be able to pride itself on the remarkable building at the regional level. It will replace the existing sports school that was built in 1970 and has not undergone any change for more than 30 years,” Kaspars Strēlis, Project Manager at MONUM, points out.

The contracting authority is Alūksne Municipality Council. The cost of the 1st stage of the project is 6,555,001.03 euro + VAT, and the cost of the 2nd stage is 2,339, 191.05 euro + VAT. The author of the design visualisation is Vizualizāciju darbnīca SIA, and the designer is BM Projekts SIA.
