Prime Minister appreciates MONUM buildings in Sigulda 20.05.2019

On 17 May 2019, Prime Minister Krišjānis Kariņš visited the MONUM construction site during his working visit, where the new natural sciences teaching block of Sigulda State Gymnasium is being built. Prime Minister got acquainted with the work done so far and the overall concept of the project.

“The new extension of the gymnasium building corresponds to the modern image of Sigulda city. It will not only be a bright and spacious environment where schoolchildren can study and relax, but it will also be equipped with modern technologies”, says Rita Markova – Gavrilova, Project Manager at MONUM.

At the moment, classrooms and auxiliary rooms that are separated by partition structures have been constructed in the building. Indoor finishing works and installation of engineering systems are underway. A stage and a balcony have been built in the ceremonial hall, and finishing of structures is being carried out. It is planned that in September this year the junior residents of Sigulda will start school in the newly built block.

Prime Minister also visited the Sigulda Sports Centre and the Sigulda Culture Centre built by MONUM. Both buildings have been highly rated in the industry’s largest competitions. The Sigulda Culture Centre (Sigulda Devon) was ranked 2nd in the nomination Reconstruction within the competition Latvian Construction Industry Annual Award 2018. In turn, the Sigulda Sports Centre earned the 3rd place in the nomination Public New Building within the show Best Building of the Year in Latvia 2017.
