The first stage of Valmiera wood chip boiler house construction has been opened. A capsule with a message for future generations has been built into the foundations of the Chip Boiler House – September 10 issues of the municipal newsletter Valmiera and the local newspaper Liesma, as well as two significant things – the Valmiera Growth Medal and the Bank of Latvia’s anniversary coin dedicated to Jāzeps Vītols from Valmiera.

It is planned that the wood chip boiler house will start operating in 2020/2021. The project costs EUR 4.9 million, of which EUR 1.66 million is co – financed by the EU Cohesion Fund.
